Who Murdered the Ghost by Ellie Oberth?
Who Murdered the Ghost? by Ellie Oberth
Summary
Hazel Cartbell’s small town policing rarely involves solving murders so she relishes the chance to prove herself when a young girl is found dead in the graveyard. She is apparently in love with the police Chief and both his son and Hazel’s brother prove useful in solving the mystery. This is one of a series.
Review
A fairly short but quite satisfying murder mystery. The motivation is sufficiently complicated without being too far-fetched and the clues are dropped throughout the story. There isn’t much time to ponder the case as the book is over quickly. The relevant side plot involving Hazel’s brother is neatly tied into the story and added a point of difference and authenticity to the whodunnit formula. Hazel’s love of the Chief was a little more two-dimensional but perhaps is intended to grow through later installments.
★★★
+ Why you’ll like it
Short and involving crime story.
- Why you won’t
A series like this might perhaps feel more satisfying to the reader if the installments were brought together into a novel.
