Zombies Take Manhattan! by Marina Bridges

Summary
Five short stories based around a zombie apocalypse.

Review
In a way I was the best and worst reviewer for this book’s chances of a good review. All for one reason: I’m a big zombie genre fan, be it movies or literature. Much time has been spent with friends picking apart certain rules or rationales from movies and books. With this in mind I have to say that this was a superb book that I enjoyed immensely. I’ve got no serious gripes with anything; great writing, plot and characters. For the first time in a while I was excited to read and didn’t want to stop. I enjoyed the way that the short stories were all based around the same time and place- in fact they often overlapped.

But, and here’s the but, being completely and utterly harsh I can’t help but wonder whether an awkward reader would see these intermingling shorts as un-ambitious, “turn it into a full novel” they’d cry.
Bearing in mind that you aren’t promised a full novel you have to give this book credit for delivering exactly what it promises: five short stories. And excellent ones at that. Highly recommended.

★★★★★
+ Why you’ll like it
Gripping, exciting, well executed. Really entertaining.

- Why you won’t
It’s got gore! If you don’t like horror don’t pick it up.
